In Mbeere North, women are the silent drivers of our economy — from working in farms, running small businesses, raising families, to leading self-help groups. Yet, for too long, they’ve been underrepresented, underfunded, and overlooked.
✅ Key Focus Areas of the Women Empowerment Portfolio
1. Economic Empowerment for Women
- Increase access to UDA’s Hustler Fund, Women Enterprise Fund, and other government-backed financial programs.
- Support table banking groups, chamas, and SACCOs with training, registration, and top-up grants.
- Promote value addition projects in mango processing, poultry, and beadwork tailored for women’s groups.
2. Leadership & Representation
- Ensure women have equal representation in CDF, NGAAF, and project management committees.
- Identify and mentor young women leaders from every ward.
- Create the “Mbeere Women Leadership Forum” to build networks for capacity building and civic engagement.
3. Health & Dignity
- Improve access to maternal health services by equipping local clinics and dispensaries.
- Distribute free sanitary pads to schoolgirls and promote menstrual hygiene education.
- Launch mobile cervical and breast cancer screening campaigns.
4. Education & Training for Women and Girls
- Provide bursaries for teen mothers and girls from vulnerable homes to continue their education.
- Offer vocational training (tailoring, hairdressing, catering, etc.) through TVET partnerships.
- Support adult literacy programs for older women left behind by the formal system.
5. Safety & Social Protection
- Work with national and county offices to address gender-based violence (GBV) through:
- Awareness campaigns
- Legal support for victims
- Community policing initiatives
- Introduce a “Safe Spaces for Women” initiative in each ward.
🎯 The Vision:
“Empowered women build stronger families, stronger economies, and a stronger Mbeere North. When we uplift a woman, we uplift an entire generation.”
Under Leo wa Muthende’s leadership, every woman will be heard, supported, and given a chance to rise. No woman will be left behind.
